Informal care campaign: ‘Throw open your cloak, make your care(s) visible’

The week of informal care is from 10 to 15 November next. We pay extra attention to all informal carers who stand by for another person every day. Besides all kinds of activities, Surplus is launching the campaign ‘Throw open your mantle, make your care(s) visible.

Many informal carers do not call themselves informal carers
They simply care, out of love or a sense of duty. As a result, the care they provide often remains invisible. For those around them and for themselves. The cloak symbolises everything that comes with that care: warmth, loyalty, fatigue. Sometimes it weighs heavily on your shoulders. The campaign invites people to throw open that cloak: to make your care visible, find recognition and find their way to Surplus' cloakrooms. Because sharing and acknowledging makes a world of difference

From videos to a story box nearby
Have you seen the campaign yet? The online video, whether the interactive quiz ‘Am I a carer?’ Or did you come across the posters in your municipality? Or have you shared your concerns through the Story Box, which travels the municipalities? There are also coat hangers in public places such as the library, shops, cinema and GP surgeries. All with the aim of raising awareness of the role of informal carers and those around them.

The campaign can be seen in the municipalities of Zundert, Etten-Leur, Geertruidenberg, Halderberge, Moerdijk and Oosterhout. Want to know more? Check out surplus.co.uk/mantelcare
