Start of new training course Dementia and (N)u

The Dementia and (N)u programme helps informal carers and family members understand and cope with dementia. Surplus will start a training course for informal carers in the municipality of Zundert dealing with dementia on Tuesday 19 September next. Want to join? Send an e-mail to mantelzorg-zundert@surplus.nl or call 076 - 597 22 00.

“After the success of the last training and because of increasing questions from informal carers about Dementia, a new group has been scheduled again,’ says Petra van Aert, informal care support worker at Surplus. During nine meetings, participants discuss topics such as empathy with changing perceptions and behaviour, dealing with care, communication, regulation issues, safety and self-care. The teaching programme is an initiative of IntoDmentia foundation, Expertise Centre Dementia Flanders and Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen. Participants experience recognition and support in these meetings. If desired, participants can join the fellow sufferers' contact organised once a month after the training. Here, participants come together and exchange experiences.

Start group
An evening group will start on Tuesday 19 September next. This is useful for working informal carers, but everyone is welcome! The meetings are always from 18.30 to 21.00 and will take place at the Wierenbos in Wernhout.

Participation is free
Both participation in the meetings and the course materials provided are free for all Zundert informal carers.

Registration and information
The group consists of a maximum of ten participants. When this group is full, interested parties are placed on a waiting list. New groups will start again next year. For registration or information on informal care or buddy assistance, please contact us by e-mail at mantelzorg-zundert@surplus.nl or call Surplus 076 - 597 22 00.
